DEM Party delegation return from İmralı

STANBUL - DEM Party delegation returned from İmralı Island after meeting with Abdullah Öcalan. 

Wan (Van) MP Pervin Buldan and Asrin Law Office lawyer Faik Ozgur Erol, members of Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party İmralı Delegation, met with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan at İmralı F-Type High Security Closed Prison. 
 
The delegation travelled from Istanbul to İmralı Island before noon. The delegation returned from İmralı Island. It was not learnt whether the delegation met with Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım, the other prisoners in İmralı.
 
IMRALI TALKS 
 
In addition to Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Omer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş are also held in İmralı F-Type High Security Closed Prison. Family and lawyer visits of Abdullah Öcalan and 3 other prisoners have been prevented for many years. 
 
After 44 months of absolute incommunication, Abdullah Öcalan met with his nephew, Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) Party Riha (Urfa) MP Ömer Öcalan on 23 October 2024 as part of a family visit.
 
Afterwards, DEM Party delegation was allowed to go to İmralı. The DEM Party İmralı delegation went to İmralı 3 times on 28 December 2024, 22 January and 27 February.
Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan took part in the first two meetings.
 
CALL WAS MADE IN THE 3RD MEETING 
 
The third meeting was attended by Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Sureyya Onder, DEM Party Co-chairs Tulay Hatimogullari and Tuncer Bakirhan, Asrin Law Office lawyers Cengiz Cicek and Faik Ozgur Erol and Ahmet Turk. Prisoners Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş also attended the meeting in İmralı.
 
During the meeting on 27 February, Abdullah Öcalan made a "Call for Peace and Democratic Society".
 
Abdullah Öcalan and prisoners held a meeting with their relatives on 31 March as part of the Eid holiday. 
 
SIRRI SUREYYA ONDER UNDER TREATMENT 
 
DEM Party İmralı Delegation members Sirri Sureyya Onder and Pervin Buldan met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on 10 April. 
 
The members of the delegation were expected to go to İmralı after the meeting. However, Sirri Sureyya Onder, one of the members of the delegation, had a heart attack on 15 April. Onder is curently under treatment in the intensive care unit of Florence Nightingale Hospital in Istanbul.
