ÇEWLÎG - "Mr Öcalan's freedom and the solution of the Kurdish issue cannot be postponed. Being courageous will win everyone," says DBP Co-chair Cigdem Kilicgun Ucar.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-chair Cigdem Kilicgun Ucar attended the meeting organised within the sope of "Social Peace and Freedom Meeting" in Çewlîg (Bingöl) Referring to the discussions on the solution of the Kurdish issue, Cigdem Kilicgun Ucar said, "Those who do not see the Kurdish issue as a major problem that needs to be solved, those who do not take steps, political parties and leaders who have been forgotten are obvious. We are together as those who do not allow this period to be wasted as in the past."

"A democratic solution to the Kurdish issue means that what was taken from our pockets with security policies will remain in our pockets," said Cigdem Kilicgun Ucar and added, "A democratic solution to the Kurdish issue means that different identities, Kurds, Alevis and socialists are seen as the real founders of this country. It means that society becomes a subject in politics. Prosperity means the realisation of a common life instead of racism and nationalism." Cigdem Kilicgun Ucar said that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan did not lose hope and struggled for the solution of the problem despite the isolation conditions for 26 years.

'FREEDOM CANNOT BE POSTPONED'

Cigdem Kilicgun Ucar stated that the ruling and opposition parties and non-governmental organizations must make a promise for peace and said, "We need to make a promise for a common life. In the century-long adventure of the nation state, it has become forbidden to talk about the Kurdish issue. This must be broken. Just like breaking the isolation, trustee regime and special war policies."

Cigdem Kilicgun Ucar pointed to the life in North and East Syria, where different beliefs and peoples live together. Cigdem Kilicgun Ucar added, "Rojava is seen as a threat to our country. It is not a threat. On the contrary, we are talking about the most democratic model. Peoples can live equally and freely. It is a model where it is not a problem who speaks in which language or believes in which faith. Therefore, the democratic solution of the Kurdis issue and the defence of the status in Rojava are the same valuse. Neither the freedom of Mr Öcalan is an issue that can be postponed, nor the solution of the Kurdish issue is an issue that can be put off for another century. Being courageous, discussing this issue in all its aspects and making legal and social arrangements in peace will benefit everyone."

After the speech the closed-door meeting took place.
