RIHA - Prisoner Erdal Dağhan, who was beaten and threatened with death by soldiers making the Bozkurt sign, applied to ÖHD.

Prisoner Erdal Dağhan, who was beaten and threatened with death by soldiers making the Bozkurt  sign (mithologycal sacred animal uses by idealists)before and after his trial, applied to the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD). Dağhan, who was brought from Izmir Şakran Prison to Urfa High Security Prison No. 2 for the hearing, described the details of the torture he was subjected to in his petition and demanded that ÖHD file a criminal complaint against those responsible.

HE TOLD ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCES

Dağhan stated that he was forced to undergo a strip search during his transfer to the courthouse, even though he passed through the X-ray machine at the prison exit, and that he objected to this. Emphasizing that the gendarmerie commander who brought him to Riha (Urfa) from Şakran Prison attacked him, Dağhan said: “He cursed me unspeakably. The people with him also kicked me. Then I was handcuffed behind my back and put into the ring car.”

Stating that the ill-treatment continued while being taken to the courthouse, Dağhan told his lawyer from ÖHD: “After the hearing, I stated that I wanted to go to the hospital to get a battering report. Upon this, they took me to Hilvan State Hospital. They did not let me inside the hospital, the doctor came and examined me inside the ring car. He asked me to take down my pants and I did so to show him where I had been beaten and I realized that the soldier next to him was recording with his phone. After the doctor left, they started to tease me. They took my glasses and refused to give them to me. When I didn't fight back, they attacked me. The soldiers were making the bozkurt sign during the attack.”

NO REPORT GIVEN, THREATENED WITH DEATH

Dağhan stated that he was taken to prison without being given a report on the beatings and was threatened with death by a gendarme at the entrance of the prison, saying “If you come again, I will empty the magazine on you. I will take you alive and bring you back dead” and that he was threatened with death. Dağhan stated that he filed a complaint against the law enforcement officers who brought him from Izmir, took him to the courthouse, hospital and threatened him at the prison entrance.

It is learned that ÖHD will file a criminal complaint to Urfa Public Prosecutor's Office tomorrow.
