Women did not testify to Ankara Police

ANKARA - Women detained as part of the investigation against TJA did not testify against the torture practices of the Ankara Police.
 
The proceedings of 18 women, who were detained in the raids carried out in 14 cities on November 29, within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA) activists on the allegation of "leadership of an organisation", at the Ankara Security Directorate have ended.
 
EVIDENCE: COMMON BASE STATION SIGNAL
 
The investigation, in which women's studies were made the subject of accusations between 2011 and 2020, drew attention to the fact that common base station signals were placed at the meetings attended by women as evidence. In the investigation based on HTS records, base station signals were added especially in Amed, Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara, and Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) and TJA meetings. Women are accused of "directing an organisation" and "acting on behalf of the organisation" due to women's work.
 
KNOWN WITNESS!
 
In the investigation, which also included the statements of open and secret witnesses, the statements of the witnesses named “Ulaş” and Merdan Rüştü Ovalıoğlu, who took part in the Kobanê Case, where 108 politicians, 17 of whom were imprisoned, were tried.
 
WOMEN DID NOT TESTIFY
 
The deposition proceedings of the women detained on November 29 started yesterday evening. The women did not testify against the torture practices of the Ankara Police. The women are expected to be taken to the Ankara Courthouse during the day for prosecution procedures.
