DİYARBAKIR - ÖHD Diyarbakır Branch which made a statement regarding the systematic isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, applied to the Diyarbakır Bar Association with 105 lawyers to take initiative.
The Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) Diyabakır Branch held a press conference at the association building regarding the isolation and applications of the lawyers for the ban on lawyers meetings with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
A large number of lawyers participated in the press conference. ÖHD Diyarbakır Branch Co-Chair Muharrem Şahin, who read the statement, said: “End the isolation conditions imposed on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, Mr. Hamili Yıldırım, Mr. Ömer Hayri Konar and Mr. Veysi Aktaş, who are in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison, lift the ban on lawyers visits." Demanding that the clients must benefit from their rights given by the domestic laws and international laws, Şahin said: "Bar Associations, Union of Turkish Bar Associations and the Ministry of Justice, should be sensitive and fulfill their responsibilities effectively in order to ensure their rights arising from domestic and international legislation and to fulfill their duty of attorneyship."
