AMED - The hearing of the lawsuit filed against the relatives of murdered Narin Güran adjourned to 30 May with the decision to continue detention.
The 3rd hearing of the second trial on the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose body was found 19 days after she disappeared on 21 August 2024 in Çulî rural neighbourhood of Rezan (Bağlar) district of Amed (Diyarbakır), was held at Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance. While the perpetrators, their lawyers and relatives of the perpetrators attended the hearing, journalists were not allowed in.
Narin Güran's cousin Birsen, her uncle Fuat, her aunt Maşallah Güran, her aunt's husband Mehmet Şevket Kaya, her cousin Muhammed Kaya and Salim Güran's worker Mehmet Selim Atasoy are on trial in pre-trial detention. Narin Güran's cousin Şeyma Kaya, her aunt Hediye, her uncles İbrahim Halil, Barış, Kurtuluş and Ömer Faruk Güran and three children are on trial without arrest.
The prosecutor repeated the final opinion given on 29 April and requested jail sentences from 6 months to 5 years of 15 perpatrators, 6 of whom are arrested and 3 of whom are children. The prosecutor requested the continuation of detention of the arrested defendants.
While the lawyers of the perpetrators were expected to make a defence against the final opinion, they were excused. The lawyers made a defence against detention.
After the defence statements of the defence lawyers, the court announced the verdict and decided to continue detention. The next hearing will be held on 30 May.
