NEWS CENTER — The communications officer of Sulaymaniyah’s (Silêmanî) Jalal Talabani International Airport announced that international flights have resumed, with the first departure to Jordan taking place this morning.
Dana Mihemed, communications officer at Jalal Talabani International Airport in the Kurdistan Region’s city of Sulaymaniyah, spoke to the media about flight operations. He said international flights restarted today after a 40-day suspension, beginning with a flight to Jordan.
He added that, in line with a schedule provided by the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, flights from the airport are expected to continue in the coming days.
The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority had previously suspended all flights from Iraqi airports and closed the country’s airspace to civilian aviation due to the war involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
