NEWS CENTER – Attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran continued into their sixth day, with air bombardments targeting numerous locations from nighttime until the early hours of the morning.
The United States and Israel continued their attacks on Iran into the seventh day. According to available reports, more than 1,200 people have been killed so far and over 6,000 others injured. Due to the closure of airspace, thousands of passengers were reportedly stranded at airports.
Developments on the sixth day of the attacks were reported as follows:
*The police headquarters in Javanrud, a district of Kermanshah in Rojhilat, was bombed. A fire broke out in the building after the bombardment.
*In Tehran, the residence of Iran’s slain religious leader Ali Khamenei and the Imam Ali Askari Military Academy were bombed again in the morning. The United States and Israel launched a large-scale wave of airstrikes targeting what they described as “regime infrastructure” in the city. Major locations including Republic Street and the Azadi Stadium complex were hit and sustained heavy damage.
*Numerous airstrikes were carried out in central Tehran.
*Israel announced that approximately 60 percent of Iran’s ballistic missile launchers had been targeted and destroyed.
*An explosion occurred at the office of the Assembly of Experts in Qom.
*Military aircraft activity was observed in the skies over Karaj.
*Airstrikes were carried out on a Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military headquarters in Bukan.
*The IRGC’s Hanzeleh Barracks and the Base 113 Intelligence Facility were targeted by air bombardments. Power outages were reported in the Saqqez districts of Shahrak-e Daneshju, Qerçi-awa, and the Boulevard area.
WHAT DID WORLD LEADERS SAY?
*Donald Trump, President of the United States, said he wanted to be “personally involved” in the process of determining who would replace the assassinated leader Ali Khamenei. Trump described the candidacy of Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the slain leader and Iran’s newly selected religious leader, as “unacceptable.” Calling on Iran to surrender, Trump said members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the police would be granted “immunity” if they laid down their arms, otherwise warning that “they will all be killed.”
*Emmanuel Macron, President of France, told Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, that Israel should avoid launching a ground operation in Lebanon and respect the country’s territorial integrity.
*Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, said the powers of governors and the armed forces had been expanded, stating that “governors and security forces are obliged to intervene decisively against any separatist movements.” Addressing neighboring Gulf countries, Pezeshkian said Iran had tried to prevent the war but repeated that the attacks had forced the country into “legitimate self-defense.”
*Leaders of the European Union condemned Iran’s retaliatory attacks on Gulf countries and sent messages of solidarity to those states. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, warned that the military escalation threatens international peace and called for an immediate ceasefire.
*United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that Northrop B-2 Spirit bombers had struck Iran’s underground ballistic missile facilities within the last hour.
*The United States House of Representatives voted by 219 votes to continue the war against Iran.
