NEWS CENTER - Journalist Şoxan Mîrza said that the government of the Federated Kurdistan Region has a responsibility to stop the ongoing attacks despite the ceasefire decision.

Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society" dated 27 February and the developments that followed it remain on the agenda. The PKK announced on 1 March that it would fulfil the requirements of Öcalan's call. It also announced a ceasefire. While the state and the government have not yet taken any steps against Öcalan's call, the attacks against Zap, Avashin and Metina areas of the Federated Kurdistan Region have not ended. Since the ceasefire decision was taken in March, the region has been bombarded thousands of times with heavy weapons. In the HPG statement published in ANF yesterday, it was stated that the region was bombed 849 times only between 5-9 April.

'ATTACKS CONTINUE'

Commenting on the developments, journalist Şoxan Mîrza said that Abdullah Öcalan's historic call created great hope among the peoples of the region. Şoxan Mîrza said, "This call was made at a time when the Middle East and the world were heading towards a great crisis. In recent years, there have been many massacres around the world due to wars. The wars of the capitalist system and capital continue. Turkey's attacks against Kurdistan continue."

Şoxan Mîrza pointed out that a ceasefire decision was taken after Öcalan's call, but the attacks continued. Şoxan Mîrza said, "The Turkish state has not taken a serious step towards solving the problem. Even now, we see that it is attacking the region with heavy and banned weapons. On the one hand, there is talk of peace, on the other hand, political massacres do not end. Today, we see that attacks continue not only in Southern Kurdistan but also in Rojava. There is scepticism among the people that the Turkish state is not approaching the process sincerely. There are also objections to this attitude in Turkey. The Turkish state needs to explain its attitude towards the process and take the necessary steps as soon as possible."

Stating that the soldiers stationed in Behdinan and Biradost regions do not allow the residents of the region to go to their lands, Şoxan Mîrza said, "People want to go to their homes, they want to plant crops. But Turkish soldiers are preventing the passage. They continue their attacks against Kurdistan. This racist mentality of the Turkish state is still continuing." Şoxan Mîrza stated that the PKK stopped its actions with the ceasefire decision, but Turkey did not fulfil its responsibility.

'RESPONSIBILITY FALLS ON THE GOVERNMENT'

Stating that the government of the Federated Kurdistan Region is also responsible for stopping the attacks Şoxan Mîrza added, "After the call, the DEM Party İmralı Delegation held some meetings here. The South Kurdistan government also announced its support for the process. However, it did not develop a stance against the Turkish state to stop its attacks and did not take a concrete step in this regard. However, they have a great responsibility to stop these attacks. If these attacks continue in this way, they will bring great damage and loss. No one will benefit from these attacks, these attacks are to the detriment of everyone. Turkey needs to stop the attacks in order for the process to be carried out in a healthy way."
