A new development has occurred in the investigation of Gülistan Doku who went missing in Dêrsim on January 5, 2020.

During the investigation, detention orders were issued for 13 suspects; 11 people were detained in raids carried out in Istanbul, Ankara, Dêrsim, Antalya, and Xarpêt (Elazığ). Mustafa Türkay Sonel, the son of the then governor of Tunceli, and the main suspect in the investigation, Zeinal Abakarov, were also among those detained.

Gülistan Doku, a student at Munzur University, disappeared in Dersim on January 5, 2020. Despite search efforts carried out since then, she has not been found.

While the family and the public have long criticized the lack of an effective investigation, the case has repeatedly come back into the public agenda over the years. In particular, the name of Mustafa Türkay Sonel, reported to be the last person Doku spoke with before her disappearance, has frequently been the subject of public debate.
