Landmine explosion in Idlib: 3 children lost their lives

NEWS CENTER –  It has been reported that three children lost their lives and one child was injured following the explosion of a landmine left over from the civil war in the city of Idlib, in north-western Syria. 

According to a report by the Syrian state television channel Al-Ikhbariya, a landmine explosion occurred in the village of Habit in Idlib. Initial reports indicate that three children were killed and one child was injured in the explosion. 
 
Most recently, on 1 April, a civilian was injured in an explosion caused by a landmine left over from the war in an area near the city of Kobanê in northern and eastern Syria. The injured civilian is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital to which they were taken.
 
SOHR: 130 DEATHS SINCE THE START OF THE YEAR
 
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has reported 130 deaths since 1 January 2026. Of these, 36 were children; however, with the deaths of three more children in this landmine explosion in Idlib, the figure has risen to 39. A further 174 people were injured as a result of explosions caused by these landmines and cluster bombs, which are remnants of the Syrian war.
