SEMSÛR - Karadağ City Forest in the centre of Semsûr is being destroyed due to the works carried out by the Housing Development Administration (TOKİ) and Emlak Konut. 

 

After the earthquakes on 6 February 2023, TOKİ houses started to be built on the summit of Karadağ City Forest. While a part of a wooded area was destroyed due to housing, this time tree cutting started on the grounds of road construction. 

 

Trees are marked for the road that the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry wants to build. Then the marked trees are cut down by heavy machinery. It is noteworthy that trees metres away from the area where the road will be built are also cut down. It is learnt that thousands of trees will be cut down for road construction.
