Worker Health and Worker Safety Assembly (ISIG) announced the "Child Workplace Homicides" report on the occasion of June 12, World Day for the Elimination of Child Labour. In the report, it is pointed out that child labour has deepened in the country and child workers are systematically exploited and at least 770 children have lost their lives while working in the last 12 and a half years.

 

According to the report, 34 per cent of those who lost their lives were between the ages of 5-14 and 66 per cent were between the ages of 15-17. While it is noted that almost all children in the 5-14 age group are employed unregistered, it is also stated that most of these children are seasonal agricultural workers and are employed on the streets or in workshops.

 

In the report, it was reported that the most common causes of death of child workers are traffic accidents 26 percent, falls from height 17 percent, poisoning and drowning 26 percent, 74 percent of children working as seasonal agricultural workers, 28 percent in service accidents, 18 percent of children working in industry, construction and service sectors.
