Journalist Hüseyin Aykol remains in critical condition 2025-10-27 16:15:43   ANKARA — Journalist and writer Hüseyin Aykol, who was placed on a ventilator after suffering a brain hemorrhage, remains in critical condition as a lung infection shows no significant improvement, his doctor said.   Aykol suffered a brain hemorrhage at his home in Ankara on October 14 and was taken to Sincan Training and Research Hospital, where he experienced a second hemorrhage. He has since been receiving treatment in the hospital’s intensive care unit.   According to his doctor, while there has been no further deterioration, the lung infection has not subsided to the desired level. “We cannot yet reduce sedation,” the doctor said, explaining that attempts to lower sedation caused increased heart rate and blood pressure. For that reason, there is no clear timeline for when Aykol might be awakened.   Visits to Aykol at the hospital continue from members of parliament, journalists, writers, intellectuals, human rights defenders, and his close friends, all expressing concern and solidarity for the veteran journalist.
