HDP's Tanrıkulu's release request denied

	ISTANBUL - The release request of HDP former Youth Council member Hüsamettin Tanrıkulu, who was arrested after the former Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu was targeted, was rejected.

	Third hearing in the trial of Hüsamettin Tanrıkulu, a former Youth Council member of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), who was detained on September 3 as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and arrested after being targeted by Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, on charges of "being a member of the PKK", was held. Tanrıkulu was brought to the hearing held at the Istanbul 29th High Criminal Court in Çağlayan from Silivri Closed Prison No. 9, where he was detained. Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD) member lawyer Nagehan Avçil and Tanrıkulu's family were also present at the hearing.

	 

	REQUESTED FOR RELEASE

	 

	Avçil said: “We have seen very well who is adept at creating evidence in this file. There is not a single piece of evidence that Tanrıkulu is a member of the organization. There is no evidence that Tanrıkulu can obfuscate. We know from the files that he was tried before, that he was suspected of escaping and hiding. That's why we want him to be released."

	 

	The promised prosecution demanded the continuation of the detention.

	 

	Deciding to request the ongoing investigation files against Tanrıkulu, the court decided to reject the request for release and postponed the hearing to July 7.
